New Short-term Opportunity

Descriptions of Duties (staff contract) or Deliverables (consultancy)

  • Apply the modelling procedure and to the latest version of the join child malnutrition database.

  • Compare the new country-level model results with current country-level estimates produced by the JME WG. Validate the properties of the estimates using cross-validation, including the sex-specific estimates.

  • Present the results of the of the new model to the JME WG and modify as needed.

  • Prepare documentation for dissemination of the details of the methodology. This includes a submitting a publication explaining the research and the development of a slide-deck.

  • Present the details of the methodology to country statistical officers and nutrition policy professionals (as needed).

  • Present the details of the proposed model and recording a PPT video to be shared with countries and publicly.

  • Report summarizing findings on gender inequalities in the form of a manuscript draft.

The selected consultant will work on the following deliverables:

  • Report on where GFN stands now, active members, origin of funds of the activities and what led to its decline in the past years

  • Recommendation on what is needed to reactivate GFN and if it should be rebranded

  • Recommendation on how GFN (or other networks) can contribute to the global target of surveillance of foodborne diseases

  • Recommendation on how the food monitoring component can be integrated with foodborne surveillance

  • Proposed road map for the reactivation of GFN

The consultant will be required to work with the Director, Regulation and Prequalification (RPQ) and experts within the RPQ Department and other relevant Departments to provide guidance and technical assistance with regard to WHO’s response to COVID-19 and other regulatory-specific work, including support to the WHO work on the COVID-19 Technology Access Pool (C-TAP), WHO Listed Authorities and Good Regulatory Practices, as specified.

Under the direct supervision of the Team Lead, Regulatory Convergence and Networks (RCN), the incumbent is required to revise and update the WHO Global Model Regulatory Framework (GMRF) for medical devices including in vitro diagnostic medical devices (Model).

The purpose of this contractual arrangement is to collect data on prices of cigarettes as well as information in relation to tax administration from assigned countries within the WHO European Region (EURO), specifically, the 27 countries of the European Union.
 
Main deliverable: 
Comprehensive data collected on key indicators for tobacco, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks covering the 27 EU countries.

The Global Accelerator for Paediatric Formulations is a WHO Network launched in 2020 to address the paediatric treatment gap. It is a network of 30 organisations, and works across the life cycle of drug development by bringing efficiency through enhanced coordination across stakeholders to Prioritize and Evaluate, develop and deliver.

The incumbent provides administrative support to staff in the GAP-f Secretariat.
